What is It? The Karma is a bit of a mystery car, but everyone agrees it's potentially a worthy rival to the Tesla Roadster in the good-looking, high-performance EV category. Designer Henrik Fisker is a respected figure in the industry. But will its 5,000-pound car meet the lofty performance targets?
Under the Hood: A 22-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack coupled to twin electric motors and a two-liter General Motors-sourced EcoTec engine with direct injection to act as a generator.
Range: 50 miles in all-electric "stealth" mode, than another 200 with the gas engine running.
Performance: It should be blisteringly fast. Fisker claims a zero to 60 time of 5.9 seconds. But nobody outside the company has driven it.
Delivery Date: After some delays, it's now March 2011.
Bottom Line: $87,400
