There's no getting around consumption in our culture, like it or not. (And really, as Americans, we do tend to like it.)
Which is why sites like eBay's Giving Works and World of Good are such great options, allowing you to donate to charities you care about through your purchases, and spend your money with those who treat workers fairly and respect the environment.
eBay's making it a bit easier to discover and use those socially conscious shopping sites -- along with the eBay Foundation, the Green Team and its microlending program, Microplace -- in one place: eBay's give.good.green site. Check it out -- and act now, because there's a pretty lucrative sweepstakes offering up everything from an electric car to tickets to the next Grammy Awards ceremony.
Of course, Giving Works and World of Good are still found on eBay's homepage ... at the very bottom of 35 categories and the catchall "everything else." But eBay's making a good push with this new portal site, and for the conscientious shopper, it's a great resource.
