Spring Comes Early to Britain

Meanwhile, China and Chicago Are Buried in Snow

With parts of China experiencing more snow than anytime in at least a century, and Chicago looking at its snowiest winter in a generation, Britain is looking out at an exceptionally early thaw.

Flowers are in bloom, as the temperature has risen 16 degrees above normal, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Last year also saw an early spring that caused flowers to bloom there, but this time it's happened even earlier.

Whether or not this is an indication that global warming is real (after all, there have been winter thaws throughout recorded history) it does paint a picture of a warmer world. Scientists have documented a real lengthening of the growing season in the U.S. and other nations that share northerly latitudes. While that longer growing season isn't expected to start in February, it is starting earlier than it did a generation ago.
