Only in California could you witness Arnold Schwarzenegger and Clint Eastwood locked in a political thriller that isn't on the silver screen.

The Governator effectively ousted Eastwood (along with Arnold's brother-in-law, Bobby Shriver) from California's Parks and Recreation Commission, by deciding not to renew their appointments. The two actors have appeared side-by-side in California tourism TV spots that air nationally, with Eastwood delivering his Dirty Harry catch-phrase: "Do you feel lucky? Do ya?"

Eastwood, who described himself as a longtime friend of Schwarzenegger's and even a mentor, believes the move resulted from his opposition to a six-lane toll road through the scenic Orange County surfer haven, San Onofre State Beach.

"I think it was just somebody got a bee under their bonnet at the right moment, so there we are," Eastwood told the Los Angeles Times.

Ok, so there may not be the seeds of a winning Hollywood script here. At least not yet. Several environmental groups, perhaps seeing the publicity possibility in anything involving Clint Eastwood, have asked the state Senate to investigate Schwarzenegger's oversight of state parks.
