Here's a unique idea for a holiday gift: Adopt a chimp.
No, don't invite a chimp to live in your house. The Jane Goodall Institute allows concerned people to buy a Chimpanzee Guardianship, each of which helps the organization care for a young chimp orphaned by poachers. For $50, you can provide food, shelter and play time for a young chimp. For $100, you can do the same for an adult, and for $250 you can cover the cost for a mother-child pair.
You even get a plush chimp to remind you about the little primate you helped.
Jane Goodall is perhaps the world's most famous chimpanzee researcher, having ventured into the wilds of eastern Africa in the summer of 1960 as a 26-year-old to live among them. In 1977, Jane founded the Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education and Conservation to provide ongoing support for field research on wild chimpanzees. Today, the mission of the Jane Goodall Institute is to advance the power of individuals to take informed and compassionate action to improve the environment for all living things. It is rated with four stars (the highest possible level) by Charity Navigator.
