Build-A-Bear Lapel Pin (Aug 2011)

Build-A-Bear Workshop is recalling 28,700 lapel pins made in China and sold in the U.S. and Canada from July 2009 through October 2010.

The $3.50 lapel pin is in the shape of a heart, bear head and peace sign positioned in front of a globe. The words "Love.Hugs.Peace" appear on the bottom of the pin, which has excessive lead. Exposure to lead can cause permanent brain damage, and children under age 6 are particularly vulnerable.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Aug. 4, 2011.

Consumers can get a $5 coupon by returning the pin to a Build-A-Bear Workshop store. For more information, contact Build-A-Bear at 866-236-5683 (between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT Saturday) or visit buildabear.com.
