The evangelical community has long been a moral and political force to be reckoned with, and now its beginning to turn that moral and political authority toward a cause traditionally seen as a bedrock concern now where but among the secular liberal set.
Animal rights, according to the Los Angeles Times, is bringing together some on the evangelical right with some on the activist left, both of whom see "right to life" encompassing a greater set of values that includes animal welfare.
It's the latest sign that the division between science-based environmentalism and faith-based values politics can be bridged. Global warming has already united many, as a concern for preserving creation has infected an increasingly large set of evangelicals.
