In a case of art most certainly not imitating life, our favorite vegan, Alicia Silverstone, has apparently signed on to star in a movie that will feature a dairy product so centrally that the comedy draws its name from it: Butter.

Alicia Silverstone won a 2009 Heart of Green Award for promoting vegan diets in such a non-confrontational way with her book, The Kind Diet. She always emphasizes the health and wellness benefits of eating vegetarian meals, rather than wagging her finger. Check out these great vegan recipes from her book, The Kind Diet, or read more about the principles of Alicia Silverstone's 'Kind Diet'. Back in 2007, she also stripped for one of those sexy PETA ads, declaring that she'd rather go naked than wear fur.

Vegans, of course, avoid eating not only meat, but all products derived from animals. That includes milk, cheese and, yes, butter.

Alicia Silverstone's character in Butter, according to Cinema Blend, is Brooke, a stripper who blackmails a womanizing character played by Ty Burrell and enters a butter-sculpting competition that Jennifer Garner's character aims to win. Apparently, it was scripted as an allegory for the 2008 presidential campaign, with Garner and Burrell playing Clinton-like characters. Does that make Silverstone's character Monica? We'll have to wait and see. According to IMDb, Butter will hit the screens in 2012. Also appearing in the movie, according to Cinema Blend: Yara Shahidi, Rob Corddry and Ashley Greene.

IMDb's description is a little more stripped down: "A comedy set in the Midwest U.S., where an adopted girl discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman in their town's annual contest."

Congratulations Alicia on landing a great new role!
