The Weather Channel Founder Wants to Sue Al Gore?

Carbon Credit Money-Making Comes Under Fire

By Dan Shapley

John Coleman, the firebrand founder of the Weather Channel-turned global warming skeptic, apparently threatened to sue Al Gore at the recent Heartland Institute conference for climate science deniers. Sort of.

“[I] have a feeling this is the opening,” Coleman said, according to ecorazzi. “If the lawyers will take the case – sue the people who sell carbon credits. That includes Al Gore. That lawsuit would get so much publicity, so much media attention. And as the experts went to the media stand to testify, I feel like that could become the vehicle to finally put some light on the fraud of global warming.”

(Coleman is no longer affiliated with The Weather Channel, which has popularized concepts related to global warming with its Forecast Earth series.)

Granted, the carbon offset market is problematic, and really, a few well-intentioned lawsuits might actually help bring some needed clarity to the industry. But this looks like a reflexive jab at Gore, the kind of thing this crowd does like a verbal tic.

Here's a look at Coleman's comments
