California Wildfires List: Day 4

16 Fires are Burning 414,013 Acres

  1. Sedgewick(Los Padres National Forest): This fire was contained at 710 acres Tuesday.

  2. Ranch (Angeles National Forest): 47,240 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is seven miles north of Castaic. The communities of Fillmore, Piru, Ventura, and Ojai are currently threatened. Evacuations continue in Chiquito Canyon, Hasley Canyon, Val Verde, Hopper Canyon and toward Filmore. More than 500 residences and 50 commercial properties are currently threatened.

  3. Magic (Los Angeles County FD): 2,000 acres at 80 percent contained. This fire is three miles west of Santa Clarita. Nine hundred homes are threatened in the Santa Clarita and Simi Valley areas.

  4. Canyon (Los Angeles County): 4,400 acres at 15 percent contained. This fire is two miles north of Malibu. Mandatory evacuations are established in the following areas: Monte Nido, Malibu Colony, Malibu Rd., Sweetwater Canyon, Carbon Canyon, Carbon Mesa, Rambla Pacifica, Big Rock, Topanga Canyon, Powder Ranch Rd. and Monte Vista Drive. Currently, 600 residences, 200 commercial buildings, and 100 outbuildings are threatened. Residents from 500 homes have been evacuated.

  5. Santiago (Orange County): 19,161 acres at 30 percent contained. This fire is 12 miles east of Santa Ana. Highway 241 is closed from Santiago Canyon to Highway 133. Portola Parkway and portions of Jamboree Road in Irvine are closed. Currently, 3,000 homes and 150 commercial properties are threatened in the communities of Foothill Ranch, Lake Forest, Modjeska, and Silverado Canyon.

  6. Witch (San Diego County): 196,420 acres at one percent contained. This fire is one mile east of Ramona. Hundreds of homes and commercial building have been damaged or destroyed. Currently, 5,000 residences, 1,500 commercial properties, and 300 outbuildings are currently threatened. Mandatory evacuations are in place for the communities of Scripps Ranch, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Valley Center, San Marcos, and Rancho Santa Fe.

  7. Buckweed (Los Angeles County): 37,812 acres at 80 percent contained. This fire is 14 miles west of Palmdale. Evacuations have been lifted for all areas except Bouquet Canyon. Communities of Santa Clarita, Castaic, Mint Canyon, and Bouquet Reservoir are still threatened. A partial road closure for Sierra Highway north from Soledad Canyon remains in effect. The Old Road at Valencia Boulevard is closed. Vasquez Canyon is open to residents only.

  8. Coronado Hills (San Diego County): 300 acres at zero percent contained. This fire is two miles south of San Marcos. No other information was provided.

  9. Ammo (Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, Department of Defense): 350 acres at zero percent contained. This fire is five miles north of San Clemente. Structures are threatened and evacuations are in order.

  10. Rosa (Riverside Unit, CAL Fire): 411 acres at 70 percent contained. This fire is one mile southwest of Temecula. Communites and a power lines are threatened.

  11. Grass Valley (San Bernardino National Forest): 1,000 acres at zero percent contained. This fire is north of Lake Arrowhead. More than 100 structures have been lost, and more than 1500 homes remain threatened. There are mandatory evaucations for all areas north of Hwy 189 (includes North Bay Dr. and Grass Valley Rd.), North of Lake Arrowhead Dam on Hwy 173, and all of Twin Peaks. Also Crestline, Lake Gregory and Rimforest.

  12. Slide (San Bernardino National Forest): 5,119 acres at zero percent contained. More than 100 homes have burned and 4,000 homes continue to be threatened. The entire community of Green Valley was surrounded by the fire and was evacuated. More than 2,000 people are at evacuation centers. Mandatory evacuations are also in place for Green Valley Lake, Arrow Bear, and Running Springs. The communities of Live Oak, Fredalba, Smiley Park, Running Spring, Cavalry Chapel Camp, National Children’s Forest and Visitors Center, Arrowbear Lake, Snow Valley and Nordic Rim Ski Areas and Deer Lick are all threatened. All roads into the mountain communities are closed.

  13. Rice (Los Angles County FD): 7,500 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is seven miles east of Fallbrook. Currently, 1,500 homes are threatened. Evacuations are ongoing in the communities of Fallbrook Rainbow Glen and Deluz Canyon. Camp Pendleton and Oceanside are threatened.

  14. Harris (San Diego County): 72,000 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is two miles southeast of Potrero. 4500 people have been evacuated. The communities of Chula Vista, San Diego, San Miguel, Portrero, Barrett Junction, Barett Lake area, Engineer Springs, Dulzura, Deerhorn Valley, Lawson Valley, Jamul, Lyons Valley and homes along Millar Ranch Road are threatened.

  15. Poomacha (Monte Vista Unit, Cal Fire): 20,000 acres at zero percent contained. This fire is seven miles east of Pauma Valley. Evacuations are in progress along the Highway 76 cxorridor. The communities of Valley Center, Rincon Hidden Meadows and Deer Springs are threatened.

  16. McCoy (Cleveland National Forest): 300 acres at 95 percent contained. This fire is four miles southwest of Julian.

  17. Haigler (Tonto National Forest, Arizona): 120 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is 22 miles northeast of Payson. Historic sites are currently threatened.
