Oil giant BP "admitted to criminal wrongdoing" and will pay $373 million in settlement charges for involvement in illegal propane trading, a deadly Texas oil explosion, and detrimental oil spill in Alaska, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The $50 million fine paid to settle the charges arising from BP’s Texas City oil explosion marks the first criminal prosecution and highest-ever fine arising from enforcement of the Clean Air Act.

The U.S. Justice Department is continuing to investigate alleged wrongdoing as it relates to BP.
