Climate Conditions Persist for Continued Drought and Fire Dangers Warm, dry weather that create conditions favorable for producing wildfires such as today's Malibu's fire and the historic drought conditions in the southeast will persist this winter, according to a recent report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Forecasters for the leading government agency are calling for above-average temperatures over most of the country and a continuation of the drought conditions in the South. Temperature maps from NOAA show that major areas of the country are in for warmer than normal temperatures. NOAA precipitation maps show that major areas of both the Southwest and Southeast will continue dry.
