The Toyota Grand Prix, the longest running major "street" race held in North America, will go green, according to the Daily Breeze, of Torrance California. Dubbed Southern California’s annual "Spring Brake," the April 18-20, 2008 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is a fan favorite and attracts crowds upwards of 200,000 people. This year’s race will feature, “the Green Power Prix-View,” an on-track demonstration of fuel-efficient vehicles.

In addition to the “the Green Power Prix-View,” on the track, the event will showcase renewable energy sources, water and energy conservation at the "Lifestyle and Alternative Energy Expo” in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.

"It's a sport involved with the use of energy, and it's important to preview where the trends are going and make people aware of what's being done to make vehicles more fuel efficient," Jim Michaelian the Grand Prix Association President and CEO told the Daily Breeze.
