The residents of Georgia may be on the vanguard of learning how a changing climate can have personal repercussions that reach their own backyards. While watering restrictions during dry spells are nothing new, comments by the Director of the State of Georgia's Environmental Protection Division as the drought continues unabated reveal the concern officials have about the current situation.
According to the Atlantic Journal Constitution, Carol Couch, Director, State of Georgia's Environmental Protection Division, mandated stringent outdoor watering restrictions on the northern regions of the state yet remarked, "My calculation is it may be inadequate." Claiming the current drought is of "historical proportions," she suggested further restrictions may soon be required.
