Two tropical waves in the Atlantic, one 100 miles east of the southern Windward Islands and one 650 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, are taking shape and could grow into tropical depressions today or tomorrow, according to the National Hurricane Center.

We've already seen 10 named storms in the Atlantic this year, as Tropical Storm Jerry formed over the weekend and is now moving through the central Atlantic. The federal forecast predicted 13-17 named storms, including as many as 3-5 major hurricanes of Category 3 strength or greater. It's still early to predict what will become of these two tropical waves, and forecasters will be watching to see if they, too, form into tropical storms.
