Monkey and Pigeon Become Fast Friends

Baby Macaque Seems Renewed; Is the Pigeon Really Interested?

By Dan Shapley

Can't we all just get along? Yes, if the question is narrowed to this: Can a monkey and a pigeon become friends in a Chinese sanctuary. A baby macaque, just 12 weeks old, is show in photos hugging its pigeon friend.

Sanctuary staff, according to a number of reports, say the once listless rescue case has a renewed sense of vitality now that it's found a friend. Monkeys, being close to humans on the evolutionary tree, are ripe for anthropomorphizing analysis. The bird, according to an armchair analysis of the photos, just has that blank airy look that pigeons wear all the time.

No doubt they're very happy.
