Robert Redford convened the third annual Sundance Summit Sunday, translating yet again his star power into real action on environmental issues. The summit continues through Wednesday.

The Sundance Summit brings together mayors of U.S. cities with one simple goal: "to take action on climate protection." It is co-hosted by ICLEI: Local Governments for Sustainability, which provides know-how and technical advice to local leaders that want to take action on climate change.

Also hosting are Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson and the Sundance Preserve. "Cities and citizens tangibly experience the impacts of global warming first -- rising sea levels, shrinking snow packs, ravishing droughts, floods, and hurricanes," according to the Sundance Web site.

"U.S. mayors are the political leaders closest to the solutions of climate change and cities taking action are boosting their economies along the way."

Bravo!
