By Dan Shapley

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards joined a Step It Up rally in Florida Saturday and said those who create greenhouse gases should pay for them. Edwards said charging polluters would generate up to $40 billion for alternative energy. Step It Up gave it's own form of alternative energy to the effort, by calling on Congress to reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050. Thousands of people turned out at 1,300 locations around the country to support the cause.
