A survey in the U.K. has found 7 in 10 believe being green is the new litmus for keeping up with the Joneses -- that perpetual peeking-over-the-fence pursuit of social status, according to a story in today's London Telegraph. The states may not be aspiring to quite the same lifestyle -- yet.
But we're getting there fast. The survey showed people feel passionately about doing the right thing -- and passionately guilty about not doing it. But more than anything, they want people to like them. And being green is part of what makes people likable, it seems. The good news? It's easy to do the right thing. Below are a few good -- and very visible -- ways to start. Make sure your neighbor sees what you're up to.
