22 Dead In Midwest Floods, With More Rain Coming

More Than 10 Inches Of Rain Close Highways, Swamp Homes

The deaths of 22 people were blamed on flooding from intense rains in the Midwest in recent days, and more rain is coming to already saturated ground -- raising the prospect of more flooding to come.

"A parade of low pressure centers will bring relentless rounds of heavy and severe thunderstorms to Iowa and surrounding areas today into Friday," meteorologist Kristina Baker wrote on Accuweather.com.

Because of the oversaturated ground, more flooding will occur. Residents and visitors are reminded to never cross a flooded road or raging waterway as even the heaviest vehicles can be carried away by flood waters." National Weather Service

As more than 10 inches of rain fell in some areas, closing highways, flooding homes and damaging crops in Ohio, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
