By Dan Shapley

Hurricane Dean grew from a Category 2 to Category 4 Hurricane in the past few hours, according to the latest report from the National Hurricane Center.

Some say it could grow into a Category 5 Hurricane and track like Hurricane Gilbert did in 1988 (See The Storm Pundit
for more on that.)

The Dominican Republic and Haiti are threatened with strong winds and rain, as is Cuba. Jamaica is in its path, and a warning is likely to be issued for Jamaica within hours. With maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, forecasters expect the storm to lessen somewhat, or at least fluctuate in intensity.
