Organic Foods For Everybody

Kroger, other mainstream supermarkets leading the way

The biggest news in organic foods is how fast its popularity is increasing in the nation's regular supermarkets.

While the Justice Department debates the proposed Whole Foods - Wild Oats merger, some of the biggest moves in bringing organics to a wider audience is in the aisles of mainstream grocers such as Safeway, Alberston, Kroger, and Hanniford.

In the last two weeks, Kroger has announced plans to rid its store shelves of rBST milk and to increase its offerings of organic foods under its own Private Selections Organics line.
