By Dan Shapley

Mobs of people took to the streets this morning in sticky humid weather, after heavy downpours early this morning flooded train tracks in and around New York City. Heavy rain was recorded in Central Park at 5 a.m., and problems on train lines began to emerge shortly thereafter.

Commuter service to upstate New York, Long Island and Connecticut was suspended in many cases right at the rush hour crunch, and subway lines were taken out of service.
