Frogs Face Extinction 'To Rival That Of Dinosaurs'

According to Ronald Gagliardo, amphibian conservation coordinator at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, frogs are facing down extinction on a global scale on par with the disappearance of dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

A Hamburg documentary filmmaker, Joerg Daniel Hissen of Hamburg, visited Gagliardo as he started work on an as-yet-unnamed documentary about the crisis.

Causes for declines in frogs around the world have many suspected causes -- from fungal diseases and human encroachment to water pollution and global warming. The film could bring new attention to the issue.
