In a report released yesterday by The Environmental Integrity Project, "12 states in the US have the heaviest concentrations of the dirtiest power plants in terms of total tons of carbon dioxide emitted."

According to this report, here is the list:

  • Texas (5)
  • Pennsylvania (4)
  • Indiana (4)
  • Alabama (3)
  • Georgia (3)
  • North Carolina (3)
  • Ohio (3)
  • West Virginia (3)
  • Wyoming (2)
  • Florida (2)
  • Kentucky (2)
  • New Mexico (2)

According to many scientists, carbon dioxide emissions are the leading manmade contributors to global warming. The Environmental Integrity Project, only five years old, calls itself "a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization established in March of 2002 by former EPA enforcement attorneys to advocate for more effective enforcement of environmental laws.
