Northeast U.S.: Unusual Noreaster

Southeast U.S.: Historic Drought
Alabama is ground zero for a persistent drought in the Southeastern United States that has sapped the strength from the farm economy, stretched drinking water supplies thin and left parts of Alabama with a 25-inch rainfall deficit, when compared to normal levels from the start of the year to date. South Central U.S.: Dramatic Rainfall
While the flooding has diminished in parts of Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and surroundings states that have been inundated recently, many cities in the region neared or reached record rainfall totals. Western U.S.: Intense Wildfires
There were 46 wildfires burning in the United States, mostly in the West, as of Friday, July 26, The fire season had claimed 4.6 million acres so far, and the largest fire currently burning â the 1,000-square mile Murphy Complex in Idaho â has claimed an area approaching the size of Rhode Island. A mudslide that might have resulted, at least in part, to deforestation, killed dozens in Indonesia after surges of floodwater there led to waves up to 10 feet high through population centers, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands of people. China: Deadly Floods
Millions were affected, more than 1 million were evacuated, and dozens died as rains in China led to extraordinary flood conditions. Southern Asia: Rising Monsoon Death Toll
The monsoon season that kicked off with unusually heavy rains across Pakistan and India continued to pound the region, as hundreds died and thousands of acres of crops were destroyed in Nepal, Bangladesh and parts of China. Southeastern Europe: Deadly Heat Wave
Souteastern Europe was held in the grip of a deadly heat wave -- the second this year -- that led to hundreds of deaths in Hungary, Romania and elsewhere in the region. Southeastern Europe: Raging Wildfires

England: Historic Floods
The worst floods in at least 60 years wreaked havoc on England this week, as hundreds were evacuated, hundreds of thousands went without clean drinking water and at least eight people lost their lives.
