Global Warming and

Hotter Vineyards and Louse-Resistant Rootstock Changing Flavor

Among some wine lovers, this global warming thing could be getting serious.

According to one wine critic, climate change and a rootstock pest vintners have been fighting since the 1870s are combining to produce American wines which are sweeter and which have a higher alcohol content.

These are elements that can negatively impact taste as many sophisticated palates prefer dryer wines.

And because wines with higher alcohol content are taxed at a higher rate, they can increase the cost of these higher octane wines to the consumer, as well.
