Thunder & Lightning Prompt Red Flag Fire Warnings

The West Coast Is Under A Fire Watch, As Dry Thunderstorms Approach The potential for lightning from thunderstorms to ignite new wildfires has several Western states bracing for even more fire, even as 52 fires burn already across 13 states. Large parts of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington are under Red Flag Warnings, or Fire Watches because of the potential of lightning to ignite tinder-dry forests and grasslands. The week is expected to have a very high fire risk across a huge area of the Rocky Mountain West and, indeed, the entire Western third of the country. For the forecast, click here.
