Hurricanes Lead To Beetle Infestation

Florida Worries Over Pine Bark Beetle In Storm-Weakened Trees The storms came and went several years ago, but the impact is still being felt in Florida, where trees weakened by hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 are now succumbing to infestations of the pine bark beetle. Similarly, trees across the Southeast are suffering from infestations of the Southern pine beetle, as an historic drought plagues the region, weakening trees.
