New Research Shows Boost In Antioxidants Tomatoes grown with organic methods had more heart-disease fighting antioxidants than those grown conventionally, according to new research published recently in the online Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry. The research builds on other tidbits of science that suggest some organic fruits and vegetables grown may offer health benefits in addition to environmental benefits. In tomato gardens grown for 10 years at the University of California-Davis, the organic tomatoes ended up with a statistically significant boost in two flavonoids. Those grown with conventional methods showed no added nutrition, nor did they show any decline in nutrition over the 10-year period. To read the study, click
