Climate Change Is Defining A Generation, Big Concert Or No Live Earth's not-at-all humble goal is to save the world. The idea is that the "climate crisis," as chairman Al Gore puts it, is already the defining issue of this generation. The music is to mobilize, energize and inspire that generation. The seven-continent extravaganza -- the biggest benefit event ever staged -- is not without its critics, who question the ability of music to transform lives, or question the carbon footprint of the event itself. But the boldness of Gore's vision deserves, even from skeptics, a wait-and-see attitude. Saturday, Gore and a legion of supporters will come together in support of the idea that the time has come to act on this generation's defining issue. Its time has come.
