After deluge, Texas, Kansas and others are in for another drenching Parts of Kansas had more than 21 inches of rain over three days, as a soaker left disaster declarations in its wake. Flood watches and warnings cover an enormous swath of the south-central and midwest today, as a slow-moving storm continues its path. Kansas and Texas are in for it again, according to the
National Weather Service -- as are Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and, according to
Accuweather.com, Louisiana. "A storm system in the upper levels of the atmosphere will sit directly over Texas Tuesday, producing more widespread, heavy showers and thunderstorms from portions of the Lone Star State to Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana," according to an Accuweather.com forecast. "The threat for additional flooding will remain high across this region." The flooding stands in stark contrast to California and neighboring states, which stands near to its driest 12-month period on record. Withering heat and drought there have spawned many wildfires.
