2007 On Track To Be 2nd Hottest Ever

Floods in Pakistan and India, and European heat wave seen as precursors Mid-way through the year, British climate scientists said today that 2007 is on track to be the second-hottest on record, unless a dramatic shift in weather occurs. In 150 years of record-keeping, the 10 warmest have all occurred since 1990, with the hottest coming in 1998. Extreme weather events are helping to shift public opinion about global warming in the United States, as droughts, floods, wildfires and other extreme weather makes news daily. Around the world, an earlier-than-normal start to the monsoon season in India and Pakistan, and a deadly heat wave in Europe have others concerned about the consequences of continued global warming.
