Gore: Just wait "500 days" and something will happen to make climate change the No. 1 election issue In an exclusive video interview with Deborah Jones Barrow, founder of The Daily Green, former Vice President Al Gore predicts that climate change will be the No. 1 issue for the presidential campaign by the time election day rolls around. Despite Gore having said he isn't a candidate, he is the subject of perpetual speculation. Maybe he's just talking about the huge groundswell of public support for climate change legislation he's trying to create. The Live Earth concert, July 7, is designed to galvanize the world public on the issue -- an effort that he boosted Thursday with the publication of a 7-Point Pledge he's asking people to sign. A central part of the pledge is the call for a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the United States and other industrialized countries -- a percentage far beyond what is being considered in Congress.
