Supreme Court Fulcrum

With his majority opinion on global warming this week, Justice John Paul Stevens cemented his role as the fulcrum in a divided Supreme Court. The opinion, affirming the EPA's right and responsibility to regulate greenhouse gases as pollutants, threw the quirky independent into the limelight. We say, welcome, Justice Stevens.
