Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank is not one of the 1.1 billion people in the world who can't find a clean cup of water. But the Million Dollar Baby is throwing her star power behind an effort to help those people out. This weekend she helped kick off the Blue Planet Run, in which 20 runners will log 15,200 miles over 95 days to spread the word about the world's drinking water. About five out of six people on Earth can find clean drinking water, but the others either live where freshwater is scarce or unclean. In a time when most celebrities making a statement about the environment are focusing on climate -- which plays a role in freshwater supply too -- Swank is getting behind an issue that is a bit of an underdog in the world of public opinion. That role should suit her just fine, according to a story in the June 3 Deseret Morning News.
