The two humpback whales that have become international stars appear to be headed for a happy return to the sea. The whales spent two weeks lost in the Sacramento River, dozens of miles away from their salty Pacific home. The freshwater exacerbated their wounds, worrying scientists and an increasingly international audience. The two whales -- a mother-daughter duo nicknamed Delta and Dawn -- made progress Tuesday, and appear to have as few as 10 miles to go to reach the sea.
