Green On The Golf Course? Not In Florida

So much for that Memorial Day golf trip. Visitors to Florida found golf courses parched -- with little green on the greens, and little skill needed to navigate the water traps. Tourism officials recently warned Congress that global warming could affect more than ski slopes, as they envision southern golf courses struggling. Maybe Florida's drought is a portent. Across the border, firefighters struggling to contain the Georgia wildfire are struggling against the wilds of the swamp, and across the country, California firefighters are preparing for a fire season that's already more intense than usual, according to a story in the May 28 Orlando Sentinel.
