Al Gore is quoting from Kurt Vonnegut, as he traverses the country
promoting his new book, "The Assault On Reason." While Gore and Vonnegut certainly share nothing in tone, Vonnegut's wily sarcasm made some of the same points about society and government that Gore's professorial finger wagging does, according to a story in the May 25 Marin Independent Journal. It's Friday before a long weekend, and the mind tends to wander. How would Vonnegut cast a Gore-like character, if he were still writing today?
