Movie makers are buying carbon offsets to alleviate the global warming contributions of their blockbusters, and to get some good press. Carbon-neutral films are more and more common, as stars demand retributions from a notoriously wasteful industry. Critics say offsets amount to a token contribution that has more impact on PR than the environment, but the next forest planted or wind turbine financed by Hollywood is a forest or turbine that would not have been created otherwise.
