Barbara Kingsolver has the antidote for the poison in the American food system. Her new book, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life," out today, chronicles her family's two-year effort to eat only local, healthy foods. The Kingsolvers grow a healthy garden, know who grows the food they don't grow themselves, and understand what ingredients those foods include. Their vision of eating is far different than the increasingly complex and unmonitored food system the ongoing tainted-pet food investigation has revealed.
