'The Heat Is On' presidential candidates The debate on global warming is now over. As more than 2,000 scientists from around the world stated, man-made global warming is "unequivocal." Now the question is: "what are we going to do about it?" That's exactly what LCV is asking all the presidential candidates. Our biggest campaign in 2007 - The Heat Is On - is to make global warming a top priority for all the presidential candidates and to urge them to outline bold plans to meet this challenge. This election is critical. Scientists warn that we must significantly reduce global warming emissions within a decade to avoid catastrophic impacts - including a significant rise in sea levels. Tackling global warming is an opportunity to overhaul our nation's energy policy by drastically reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. The next president needs to be a leader on this issue. You can watch a short video about the project, narrated by Robert Redford, below. And more importantly, get involved and help keep the pressure on candidates. Our website - www.heatison.org - is tracking what candidates are saying about global warming, including video of them on the campaign trail, and has regular updates on their plans. I hope you'll join us! Gene Karpinski is the executive director of LCV.
