Concern over ingredients in plastic, and their still-murky potential health effects, has prompted many parents to turn to an old solution: Glass baby bottles. Bisphenol A, or BPA, a chemical that makes plastics unbreakable, may leach from bottles into milk. Whether or not it has any health effects is a matter of scientific - and certainly societal - debate. Many parents are erring on the side of caution, though the no-longer shatter-proof bottle in the crib requires careful monitoring as well.
