FDA Fails To Protect Food Supply

The Food and Drug Administration has acknowledged that the international network of food producers and processors has outgrown the agency's capacity to effectively monitor it. The FDA's budget for inspections is dwarfed by that of its sister agency, the Department of Agriculture. The FDA monitors roughly 80 percent of the food supply, and the USDA 20 percent.
