Think global and act local? Laurie David and Sheryl Crow had a row over global warming with Karl Rove, President Bush's chief political adviser, at Saturday night's black tie dinner for White House staffers and the press. Actually, it sounds like David, the producer of the Oscar-winning "An Inconvenient Truth," and rock star Crow never really got to the substance of the global warming issue with Rove, as the conversation quickly overheated. Just how this tiff got tipped off is a he-said, they-said affair, but it gave the otherwise guards-down dinner a moment of anxiety reminiscent of Stephen Colbert's famous broadside at last year's dinner. That it was inspired by global warming policy is indicative of the high stakes involved, and public profile the issue has won of late. David and Crow are on an 11-stop college tour to raise awareness on college campuses. They seem to be having more dialog with the students.
