Comparing him to John F. Kennedy and the Founding Fathers, Al Gore endorsed Barack Obama for president.

It's certainly no surprise. Gore decided not to endorse a candidate when he may have played king-maker. Now, his role is primarily trying to unite Democrats behind their choice for president, now that Obama has defeated Hillary Clinton.

Gore praised Sen. John McCain's war service and courage tackling issues, including "the climate crisis," that other Republicans have avoided. But Gore said Obama is his man, in part because of the candidate's plan to put "millions" to work on clean and renewable energy technology development and deployment.

"This election matters more than ever, because America needs change more than ever," Gore said.
