As summer rolls on, our lawns do also. In fact, many times we let our lawns get the best of us. If done correctly, taking care of our lawns can be fun, eco-friendly and a great work out. Regardless of the style of product you choose for your grass, make sure that it is Energy Star certified.

Get back to basics with these eco products:

Brill Reel Mower
The Brill reel mower is an easy, fun and inexpensive way to cut the grass, save the environment and shed some extra calories. Using a reel mower in the summer can really be the best investment. At around $200, they are cheaper than gas and electric mowers, and give you much more of a workout. Best of all they don't pollute at all!

Black & Decker Electric Mower
If you are unable to use a reel mower and still want to go eco-friendly, then this may be a mower to look into. Being an Energy Star product means you won't pay a lot of money to recharge it, therefore the expense of upkeep is a lot less.

American Lawn String Trimmer
Nothing finishes off an eco yard better than an eco trimmer. The charger has an Energy Star certification, which gives the equipment a power-saving face in the category of mowers. The single line string also contributes to its economic performance.

By the time your grass is cut, it will not only look beautiful, but it will be cared for with great energy-saving style. And, your waistline will thank you as well.

The best submissions are personal (why I started this venture) short and to the point (400 words or so) and written in a style that speaks directly to the audience as peers (not like an ad or press release). E-mail submissions to news@thedailygreen.com and include "community news" in the subject line. Photos are also welcome, provided the submitter has rights to publish the image.
