Old-growth Cypress trees are in danger of becoming bedrock for Baton Rouge Loop.
In Ascension Parish, we have a beautiful 13,000 acre area called Spanish Lake Basin home to swamps, lakes, wetlands filled with alligators, bald eagles, herons and more. This culturally rich area is high on the list for potential legs of the Baton Rouge loop.
They want this area since it would connect to Hwy 42 and potentially give them lots of "toll money". (its a toll road)
The 5 parish presidents have "loop envy" and want this bad. Our parish president wants it to go through Hwy 42 and the Basin because the other potential route will take it through his own home. We only have until May of this year to stop them that is when they will make the final decision on where it will go.
Please contact Dale Clary 225-673-6453 or Frank Bonifay 225-677-8297 for more information on this precious resource.
Go to Alligatorbayou.com to learn more about the Spanish Lake Basin. Also, see Brloop.com to see the projected path of this loop and how it will impact the basin.
