COMMUNITY NEWS
Dear Daily Green
My name is Mark Langan and I am a "Green" Artist hailing from a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I create some fantastic three dimensional sculpture from the obscure & overlooked commodity of recycled corrugated boxes as an art medium. Artwork that is unique, aesthetically beautiful, and one that intrigues those who view it because of its obvious composition. Sculpture that plays off light and dark and a testament to looking (pardon the tired phrase) outside the box.
My materials I gather from my own personal consumption along with purging those about my neighborhood during trash days. Each artwork I create fashioned by slicing and laminating individual pieces one on to another with a non-toxic glue (Elmer's Glu-All brand). Artwork that exemplifies and makes one question their own commitment to the recycling movement. If you enjoy my work and would be interested in seeing more examples you may do so by contacting me as referenced below.
This is an artwork that I created constructed entirely from recycled corrugated boxes. It a three dimensional depiction of Uncle Sam from the old Army recruitment posters. Script obviously changed to "I Want You TO RECYCLE" and chasing arrows added to background.

Thank you!

The Daily Green's Community News section is a forum for our audience to get the word out about issues that matter to them, enlist support, get help and advice, celebrate successes or share humor. The best submissions are personal (why I started this venture) short and to the point (400 words or so) and written in a style that speaks directly to the audience as peers (not like an ad or press release). E-mail submissions to news@thedailygreen.com and include "community news" in the subject line. Photos are also welcome, provided the submitter has rights to publish the image. Be sure to include credit and caption information.
