Is Bee Decline A Reprise? Time, Science (And $) Will Tell

The wait won't be long, we're told, before something breaks on both the funding front and the action plan, or on the plans researchers involved with finding the cause, or causes, of Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).

Two bills are in congress and there is lots of support for them in both houses. And researchers are narrowing down, or widening up, their focus on what to look for, where to look, when to look, how to look, who should look, and why they should be looking in all those places.

Competition for the congressional dollars will be interesting, but the smart money is on the government getting the lion's share ... and that is probably an alright thing. There are others who can do good work though, and we all hope they don't get overlooked. More is better when it comes to solving problems. One thing that has come up, again and again, is that CCD is nothing new. It's been here before.

An in-depth study on previous outbreaks of something resembling CCD was published on Bee Culture's web sit at here. Then, if you take a look at the map at the bottom of our page here, you can see the overlap. Ya just gotta wonder ...
